Thanks Sheila for the comment. The tower structure is called L’Estel Ferit (the wounded star or the injured comet) and was commissioned for the 1992 Olympics. It was designed by the artist Rebecca Horn.

Yes, that’s right – they are between the Columbus monument and Barceloneta.
